THE COVER STORY

The New Volume Two Cover

The cover for Volume Two has been the easiest to design of all of them, especially as we have had the bonus of having had Volume One in the shops and on Amazon for over two years, so we've had plenty of time to observe it and see how it stands out on the shelf with other titles.

The image we finally settled on was one from Chancery's scrapbook and, to our surprise, we discovered that we'd actually contemplated using it for Volume One. It's a beautiful clear photograph of a young Nick Moss, Kate Moss' little brother, aged seventeen, in a Jesus-style pose, which is just perfect for Volume Two, with its themes of return and resurrection. However, as you can see from the illustration opposite, the original is in black and white and not quite striking enough for the highly competitive arena that is the shelf of your local Waterstones.

However, thanks to the guys at Adobe, Photoshop has come to my rescue once again and I've added the requisite grain and put some subtle colour into the image to make it suitably eye-catching.

With two DANNYs down and three to go I'm now in the process of looking for images for Volumes Three and Four, and with Volume Three's enticing subtitle of Skull Island to work with it looks like it's going to be a fun ride!
